Most Exciting Game Releases In 2017

All video games have the power to excite us and there is already a host of new game releases in 2017 that are whetting the appetite! Ranging from horror games to adventure games there will definitely be something to look forward to for all players. Bring on 2017!

Resident Evil 7

Resident Evil 7 looks to take this franchise into the modern day horror game. Where jump scares and psychological fear dominate in more recent horror games, Resident Evil 7 looks to continue this trend and also deliver a horrific experience on VR too. If starting the year in fear sounds like your new year’s resolution complete then it’s a must buy!

Fan fors of: Resident Evil, Outlast, The Evil Within

South Park: The Fractured But Whole

South Park: The Fractured But Whole looks like a great follow up to South Park: The Stick Of Truth with the same art style story telling at the first game in the series. If you have ever wanted to take an adventure with the South Park superhero alter egos then this game will tick all those boxes whilst making you laugh out loud along the way.

For fans of: South Park, South Park: The Stick Of Truth, Bully: Scholarship Edition

Tekken 7

Tekken has gone through many iterations and with each new release there is more story to unravel. It looks like Bandai-Namco will finally draw a close on the Tekken series with Tekken 7 and it will be exciting to see how things are wrapped up for the Mishima family. The game play in all the Tekken games have always been highly enjoyable and could well be a game that makes its way into the emerging eSports scene that will no doubt explode in 2017!

For fans of: Tekken, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat

Yooka-Laylee

Yooka-Laylee is a fan funded project that proves there are still plenty of people who want to play 3D platformers on their current gen consoles. Every trailer released so far for Yooka-Laylee looks like the old classic platformers of the good old days and it will be nice to get back to basics in 2017 with this great looking game.

For fans of: Crash Bandicoot, Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank

Little Nightmares

Little Nightmares will remind you of Playdead’s very popular games, Limbo and INSIDE, in that it’s dark and disturbing but this horror, platforming game looks like it could be even better. The platforming side of the game appears to be very prominent as you can climb on top of almost anything in any any room. Overcome your childhood fear of the darkness and take a journey through the Maw next year.

For fans of: INSIDE, Limbo, Super Mario

Sea of Thieves

Sea of Thieves looks like an epic multiplayer game designed for groups of friends who want to live the life of a pirate crew. As a huge One Piece fan, this really has some relevance to me and exploring the world for treasure sounds like a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. With some many people able to enter your world there will be plenty of confrontation along the way. This could be one of the best games of 2017!

For fans of: The Edler Scrolls, Zelda: Wind Waker, World Of Warcraft

Rime

Rime was originally going to be a Playstation exclusive but has recently been announced that it will be released on both PS4 and XB1. The adventure game looks to take influences from Greek mythology with hints at an intriguing, mythological story to uncover. After successful exploration games in 2016 we are hoping Rime will continue that trend.

For fans of: Journey, ABZU, Legend Of Zelda

Star War Battlefront 2

star-wars-battlefront-2

The most recent Star Wars Battlefront game was good but it failed to live up to the hype that was generated when it was first shown to the public. This looks set to change with Star Wars Battlefront 2 as EA look to have learnt from their first mistakes and will make Battlefront 2 the game we wanted first time around. With no game trailer it is hard to judge but if they pull it off then Star Wars could take the best FPS of 2017 mantle!

For fans of: Battlefield, Call of Duty, Titanfall

Red Dead Redemption 2

Rockstar has pleased many fans of Red Dead Redemption by announcing the sequel earlier this year. Red Dead Redemption 2 looks to continue in the same vein as the first game but hopefully will introduce some new features coupled with another great story line. Only time will so in the meantime, we will just play the waiting game.

For fans of: Red Dead Redemption, Grand Theft Auto, Watch Dogs 2

The Last Of Us Part 2

Deemed on the of the best games ever, The Last Of Us delivered an unrivaled zombie apocalypse experience. Many wanted a sequel to the game and thankfully Naughty Dog announced The Last Of Us Part 2 at the Playstation Experience at the beginning of this month. Who is ready for another emotional roller coaster with Ellie and the gang?

For fans of: State of Decay, Unchartered, Gears Of War

Prey

Prey, developed by Bethesda Softworks, is a blend of simulation and narrartion. The story looks to make you question everything in the environment around you as the enemy in the game can manifest itself in almost any way conceivable in this open world setting on a spacestation. This sounds like a great concept and a thrilling story that I cannot wait to see more of in 2017. Watch the trailer above and tell me that doesn’t look like Bethesda’s next big hit!

For fans of: Mass Effect, Fallout

The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild

Everyone loves a Zelda game and Breath Of The Wild looks to deliver a Zelda experience similar to the Ocarina of Time. This game looks incredible but much of the excitement for this game relies on Nintendo doing a good job of building hype for their new console, the Nintendo Switch. If all goes well then I can envisage many gamers playing Zelda on the go. Probably on the bus or train to work or school. Heck, even on the toilet!

For fans of: Zelda, Super Mario
