This year has not been a good year for video games sticking to their initial release dates. To name a few, we have seen Gran Turismo Sport, Final Fantasy XV, Kingdom Hearts 2.8 and The Last Guardian all receiving delays, some quite lengthy delays taking the release date into 2017. The new, highly anticipated South Park: The Fractured But Whole is the latest addition to that list with the initial release date of 6th December being delayed until Q1 2017.
What Do Ubisoft Have To Say?
Ubisoft have released the following statement regarding the delay: “The development team wants to make sure the game experience meets the high expectations of fans and the additional time will help them achieve this goal.” Although the sentiment from Ubisoft is appreciated it is very disappointing to have to wait for the follow up the South Park: The Stick Of Truth and the omens don’t fill us with confidence.
I’ve Got A (Bad) Feeling
For those fans who have been waiting for this game to release or have already pre-ordered the game then this delay will may make you more nervy, especially when we look at past events. South Park: The Stick Of Truth was also scheduled for a December release date but was delayed until Q1 the following year, finally arriving in March. The waiting game will have to suffice for South Park fans hoping to drop into the game this Christmas. Let’s hope the ‘delay trend’ stops here.
